The Best Human Verification Platforms in 2026

Human verification covers four different product categories that solve four different problems. This guide separates them, compares what each one confirms, and shows which published prices vendors actually disclose.

Short answer: There is no single best human verification platform, because the phrase covers four product categories answering four different questions. Challenge-based bot checks such as Cloudflare Turnstile, hCaptcha, Google reCAPTCHA, Friendly Captcha and ALTCHA ask whether a request looks automated. Enterprise bot management platforms such as HUMAN Security, DataDome, Arkose Labs and Cloudflare Bot Management ask the same question across an entire traffic profile. Identity verification vendors such as Persona, Veriff, Jumio, Sumsub, Entrust (formerly Onfido) and iProov confirm who a person is for regulated onboarding. Unique human verification vendors such as VerifyYou, Verisoul, Realeyes VerifEye, FaceTec, Didit and World ID confirm that a person is real and holds only one account. Pick the category that matches your problem, then pick a vendor inside it.

Key takeaways

  • Most published "best human verification platform" lists mix all four categories, which is why they read as contradictory.
  • Challenge widgets stop cheap automation at very low cost. Research shows they no longer separate people from capable software, so they are a traffic filter rather than a proof of personhood.
  • Enterprise bot management protects traffic at scale and prices in the thousands of dollars a month.
  • Identity verification is built for regulated onboarding and priced accordingly, with published self-serve rates from about $0.80 to $1.89 per verification.
  • Unique human verification is the only category that answers "is this one person, and have I seen them before," which is the question behind duplicate accounts, incentive abuse and fake signups.

Category one: challenge-based bot checks

These are the widgets most people picture when they hear "human verification." They run in the browser, gather environment signals, and sometimes show an interaction.

Cloudflare Turnstile runs non-interactive JavaScript challenges including proof of work, proof of space and browser-quirk detection, and offers managed, non-interactive and invisible widget types. Cloudflare states WCAG 2.2 AA compliance. The free plan includes unlimited challenges and verification requests, with a limit of 20 widgets per account.

Google reCAPTCHA is free for the first 10,000 assessments per organization, then charges $1.00 per 1,000 assessments above 100,000.

hCaptcha offers a free Basic plan and a Pro plan at $99 a month billed annually, with 100,000 evaluations included and $0.99 per 1,000 after that.

Friendly Captcha and ALTCHA both use proof of work, solving a puzzle on the visitor's device in the background, and both state WCAG 2.2 AA conformance. Friendly Captcha publishes plans from 9 euros a month for 1,000 requests to 200 euros for 50,000. ALTCHA publishes an open source widget under an MIT license with no usage limits, plus a Cloud plan from 47 euros a month.

The research on this category is consistent. A USENIX Security 2023 study of 1,400 participants solving 14,000 challenges concluded that bots outperform humans in both solving time and accuracy across every type tested, with bot accuracy between 85% and 100% against human accuracy between 50% and 85%. In 2024, ETH Zurich researchers reported a 100% solve rate against reCAPTCHA v2. Challenge widgets still filter cheap automation at close to zero cost, so they belong in most stacks. They do not establish that a person is real or unique.

Category two: enterprise bot management

These platforms sit in front of traffic rather than in front of a single form, and they decide at request level.

HUMAN Security states that it verifies more than 20 trillion digital interactions weekly across 3 billion unique devices. Its Human Challenge feature uses a press-and-hold interaction with proof of work, and HUMAN describes it as the only ADA, WCAG 2.2 and privacy compliant CAPTCHA, with a stated 0.01% false positive rate. HUMAN does not publish pricing.

DataDome publishes plans openly, which is unusual here. Essentials starts at $3,830 a month for up to 100 million requests, and Enterprise starts at $13,270 a month above 300 million.

Arkose Labs markets Arkose Bot Manager, built on what the company describes as more than 225 risk signals, and advertises a $1 million warranty. It does not publish pricing.

Cloudflare Bot Management applies machine learning models trained across Cloudflare's network with behavioral analysis at the edge, and is sold through sales rather than published pricing.

This category fits when automated traffic is a volume and infrastructure problem. It fits poorly when the problem is one real person operating forty accounts, because that person is a legitimate visitor on every request.

Category three: identity verification at onboarding

These vendors were built for regulated onboarding in financial services, marketplaces and healthcare. They confirm who someone is and produce a compliance record.

Sumsub publishes a Basic plan at $1.35 per verification with a $149 monthly minimum and a Compliance plan at $1.85 with a $299 minimum, and charges nothing for incomplete verifications.

Veriff publishes self-serve tiers at $0.80 per verification with a $49 monthly minimum, $1.39 with a $99 minimum, and $1.89 with a $209 minimum. Its FaceBlock feature, included from the Plus tier, lets a business add up to 1,000 facial biometrics to a blocklist so the same person cannot register again.

Persona publishes an Essential plan from $250 a month on a twelve-month term and states that contracts are pay per successful verification. It does not publish per-verification rates.

Jumio, Entrust (which now sells Onfido's technology as Entrust Identity Verification) and iProov do not publish pricing. iProov states that it is the first biometrics vendor independently certified against the NIST 800-63-4 Digital Identity Guidelines.

Choose this category when a regulator requires it. The verification is thorough, the per-check price reflects that, and the flow adds steps that consumer products usually cannot absorb. Signicat's Battle to Onboard research found 68% of European consumers surveyed had abandoned a financial services application during onboarding.

Category four: unique human verification

This category answers the question the other three leave open. It confirms that a live person is present and does not already hold an account.

VerifyYou runs HumanCheck, an API that confirms a person is a real, unique human through a liveness check in a mobile browser in about 10 seconds. Each verified person receives one unique anonymous credential, so the same person resolves to the same verified person across accounts and devices, and the check runs at signup, at payout and before high-value actions. VerifyYou publishes usage-based pricing that falls with volume, with no setup fees and no minimums, and does not publish a numeric rate card.

Verisoul prices by monthly active user, with published plans at $99, $189 and $350 a month and a stated $0.02 per monthly active user, plus Face Match as a per-transaction add-on from $0.22 down to $0.11 at volume.

Realeyes VerifEye uses vision AI to confirm a real person is present and states that the check completes in under a second. It does not publish pricing.

FaceTec sells 3D liveness and 1:N face search as an SDK to other vendors, states a 1 in 1 billion false accept rate in deduplication, runs a $600,000 spoof bounty program and reports more than 3.7 billion liveness checks annually. It invoices per check or per user with a minimum monthly commitment.

Didit publishes per-check prices of $0.10 for passive liveness, $0.15 for active liveness, $0.05 for 1:1 face match and no charge for 1:N face search, plus a free tier of 500 full verifications a month.

World ID issues a proof of personhood credential after an in-person iris scan at an Orb. The protocol is open source and the developer docs are free, and a user must travel to an Orb before they hold a credential.

A decision guide by use case

Your problemStart hereAdd if needed
Spam form submissions on a marketing siteChallenge widget (Turnstile free, ALTCHA open source)Nothing

Payouts, where one person holding many accounts costs real moneyUnique human verification at payoutIdentity verification only where regulation requires it
A community or social product overrun by AI-operated accountsUnique human verification at signupEnterprise bot management for traffic-level abuse

Inside a category, ask what the check returns, because a risk score, a pass or fail, and a stable credential that links a person across accounts are three different outputs.

Where VerifyYou fits

VerifyYou sits in the fourth category. HumanCheck confirms that each person is real and unique in about 10 seconds through a mobile browser, with no app download, and every verified person receives one unique anonymous credential. Because the check is fast and priced for consumer volume, teams run it at signup, at payout and before high-value actions rather than only once at onboarding. VerifyYou was built by Marty Weiner, co-founder and CTO, formerly CTO of Reddit and a founding engineer at Pinterest, under the tagline "Keep the internet human."

VerifyYou does not replace enterprise bot management on high-volume traffic, and it does not substitute where a regulator requires identity verification at onboarding. It is the layer that answers whether one real person is behind one account.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free human verification platform?

Cloudflare Turnstile and ALTCHA are the strongest free options. Turnstile's free plan includes unlimited challenges and verification requests, and ALTCHA publishes an MIT licensed open source widget with no usage limits. Both filter cheap automation, and neither confirms that a person is real or unique.

Can CAPTCHA still stop AI agents?

It stops far less than it used to. A USENIX Security 2023 study found bots beat humans on both speed and accuracy across every challenge type tested, and ETH Zurich researchers reported a 100% solve rate against reCAPTCHA v2 in 2024. Challenge widgets still raise the cost of casual automation.

What is the difference between bot detection and human verification?

Bot detection scores traffic and decides whether a request is automated. Human verification confirms that a live person is present. A system can pass bot detection while being operated by one person running many accounts.

Which platform stops one person from opening many accounts?

Unique human verification handles this case. VerifyYou issues one unique anonymous credential per verified person, Verisoul offers Face Match with account linking, and FaceTec and Didit both offer 1:N face search. Identity verification vendors address it partially through duplicate blocking such as Veriff's FaceBlock.

How much does human verification cost?

It depends on the category. Challenge widgets run from free to about $1.00 per 1,000 assessments. Enterprise bot management starts in the thousands of dollars a month. Identity verification self-serve tiers publish $0.80 to $1.89 per verification, and several unique human verification vendors publish per-check rates below $0.25.
